The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to respond effectively to emergency situations and provide first aid assistance.
This nationally recognised training teaches you how to manage casualties in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and other leading Australian clinical authorities.
The course is suitable for individuals who may need to provide first aid in a wide range of environments including workplaces, community settings, education, and public areas.
Participants will learn practical techniques and gain the confidence needed to respond quickly and appropriately during medical emergencies.
This course is delivered through face-to-face classroom training at the campus. Participants will attend an in-person session where a qualified trainer provides instruction, demonstrations, and guided practice.
This certification is valuable in many industries where workplace safety is important. It can support job roles such as First Aid Officer, construction worker, security staff, childcare worker, fitness trainer, hospitality staff, and community support worker.
Many workplaces require trained first aiders, making this course a useful skill for improving employment opportunities.
Participants must be at least 14 years old to enrol in this course. Students should have basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills to understand the training and complete assessments.
As part of the assessment, students must perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor.
This course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to respond to a variety of emergency situations. Topics covered include:
Responding to emergency situations
Assessing a casualty and ensuring scene safety
Performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Managing unconscious casualties
Treating wounds, bleeding, burns, and fractures
Responding to choking and breathing difficulties
Managing shock and allergic reactions
First aid for medical conditions such as asthma, seizures, and cardiac emergencies
Infection control procedures and basic life support techniques
This qualification reflects the role of cooks who use a wide range of well-developed cookery skills and sound knowledge of kitchen operations to prepare food and menu items. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.
Completion of this qualification contributes to recognition as a trade cook. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a cook in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops.
